Mainely Character is Now Accepting Applications for 2013 Scholarships

Portland, Maine - Applications are now being accepted for 2013 Mainely Character Scholarships to be awarded this spring.

Scholarships will be awarded to Maine high school seniors who will pursue post high school education and who demonstrate key attributes of character - responsibility, courage, integrity and concern for others.  Scholastic achievement, athletic achievement or financial need are not considered in awarding the scholarships.

The three 2012 scholarship winners demonstrated attributes of character in a number of ways - by assisting a troubled student through his high school years, by overcoming daunting obstacles to staying in school, and by organizing a peace program between high school students in the United States and the Middle East.

Three scholarships are available in 2013: one $5,000 scholarship, sponsored by R. M Davis Inc. of Portland, and two $2,500 scholarships, sponsored by Northeast Bank of Lewiston and Market Decisions of Portland.

Information on the scholarships and an application can be downloaded from www.mainelycharacter.org.  The deadline is March 15.
