February Events at Lithgow Public Library

Augusta, Maine - The following are events that will be taking place during the month of February at Lithgrow Public Library in Augusta, Maine.


All events are free and open to the public. Please contact the library for more information: 626-2415 or www.lithgow.lib.me.us. The library is located at 45 Winthrop Street, across from the former YMCA. The library is open Monday - Thursday: 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday: 9:00 a.m. to Noon.

February 1
Incredible Infants 10 a.m., Youth Services
Enjoy stories, songs and finger plays at this story time for infants and their care givers.

February 4
Rockin’ Readers 6:30-7:30p.m., Youth Services
Readers in 3rd to 6th grade and adults can take part in this fun, interactive inter-generational book discussion. Our book for February is "Across the Reach" by Cynthia Furlong Reynolds. Please see Cheryl for a copy of the book, and more details!

February 5
Toddler Time 10 a.m., Youth Services
Sing songs, listen to stories, and learn nursery rhymes while interacting with your child and other care providers.

February 5
Starlight Story Time 6 p.m. Youth Services
Kids ages 3-7 are invited, with a parent or caregiver, to come to the Library's Picture Book Room for nighttime stories on the first Tuesday of the month, at 6:00 p.m.. Wear your pajamas and bring your favorite stuffed animal for stories, songs, and more. This month we are featuring a simple owl craft after the stories.

February 6
Family Story Time 10 a.m., Youth Services
Stories, educational activities and art projects for children ages 3-5 and their care givers.

February 7
Legos at the Library 3:30 p.m., Youth Services
Join us for fun Lego building sessions with other Lego lovers! We will meet the 1st Thursday of the month, at 3:30 p.m. in Youth Services. Legos will be provided.

February 8
Incredible Infants 10 a.m., Youth Services
Enjoy stories, songs and finger plays at this story time for infants and their care givers.

February 9
“Peace by Piece” Book Event featuring author Sandra Palmer Fish and Collage activity, 10 a.m. Youth Services

Sandra Palmer Fish’s words in this book were inspired by the belief that we all have a

place in this universe and a reason to be here. Enjoy the joyful words of the text and the delightful illustrations created by using paper pieces from recycled magazines.

Books will be available to purchase and be signed. All the profits from this book are being used to help feed and educate children. Please join us after the book presentation to create your own collage! This program is appropriate for kids ages 6 and up.

February 12
Craft Afternoon  3:30 p.m., Youth Services
Come join us for a fun, creative afternoon of cutting, gluing, stamping, weaving, drawing, etc.! All ages welcome! Children 6 and under will need adult supervision. This program is hosted the 2nd Tuesday of the month, until June.  This month we will be decorating picture frames. Please bring a 4x6 picture to frame!

Family Story Time 10 a.m., Youth Services

Food For Thought 6 p.m., Youth Services
Children’s book discussion group for ages 3-8 to share books, recipes, food and fun! Each child and their adult partner will sign-up to choose a food related book to read together and bring the food as a snack to share with others, as well as discuss the book and/or the recipe.

February 15

February 18
The Lithgow Public Library will be closed for Presidents’ Day.

E-books 101 1 p.m.
Our popular eBook 101 workshops are now an ongoing class! The class will take place the fourth Wednesday of every month at 1:00 PM. Want to learn more about the Downloadable Library? Attend this class and we'll try to answer some basic questions. Questions about the downloadable audiobooks are welcome as well. Bring your laptop and/or eReader. Please sign up at the front desk.
