Senators Collins and King Meet with Maine National Guard Leaders

WASHINGTON, D.C.– U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus S. King, Jr. today met with leaders of the Maine National Guard to discuss issues confronting the Maine Army and Air National Guard back in the state.  Senators Collins and King sat down with Maine Adjutant General, Brigadier General James Campbell; Maine Army Chief of Staff, Colonel Jack Mosher; and Construction and Facilities Management Officer, Lt. Colonel Dwaine Drummond, this morning in Senator Collins’ Washington, D.C. office.

Senator Collins said:
“Supporting the Maine National Guard, which serves our country so bravely, has always been one of my top priorities, and I certainly appreciated meeting with Brigadier General Campbell, Colonel Mosher, and Lt. Colonel Drummond this morning to discuss the challenges facing the Maine National Guard.  As a member of the Senate Appropriations Defense Subcommittee, I will work hard to ensure that the Maine National Guard has the resources it needs to fulfill its noble and important mission.”

Senator King said:
“As a new Senator, and as a member of the Armed Services Committee, it was importantfor me to meet with Brigadier General Campbell, Colonel Mosher, and Lt. Colonel Drummond to gain a more thorough understanding of the issues confronting the Maine Army and Air National Guard.  One of our first priorities in Washington, as always, must be ensuringthat we are meeting the needs of those who are day in and day out bravely and selflessly serving Maine and our nation. Today’s meeting was tremendously helpful and informative in providing me with an understanding of how Senator Collins and I can be most effective in doing that moving forward.  Particularly, my position on the Armed Services Committee will enable me to work to address their concerns and serve their needs, and I not only look forward to doing that, but also continuing the outstanding work that Senator Collins accomplished during her tenure on the committee.”
