BRIDGEWATER ST. BATTLES BACK TO DEFEAT UNE, 11-10

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The Bridgewater State women's lacrosse team outscored the University of New England 5-1 over the final 11:56 of regulation to pick up an 11-10 victory at Swenson Field on Saturday afternoon. Elizabeth Ettridge tallied the game-winner with 33 seconds left to send the Bears to victory.
 
After trailing by one at the half, Ettridge tied the game 6-6 early in the second. Nichole Carvalho answered back for the Nor'easters with two man-up g­oals 44 seconds apart to reclaim the lead at 8-6. Anna Stowell scored as UNE matched it largest lead of the day at three.
 
Bridgewater State responded with four straight goals, including two by Victoria McDonough to jump in front 10-9 with 4:08 remaining. Molly Camelo knotted the game with her third of the afternoon before the winner by Ettridge.
 
UNE led 6-3 at the 4:27 mark of the first half after a marker by Julia Benjamin, but Emily Hiller had two late goals for the Bears to trim the deficit to one before the break.
 
The Nor'easters held a slim 24-22 advantage in shots. Hayley Barner finished with 11 saves for the Bears. Taylor Hopkins had 10 stops for UNE. Casey Conwell added three assists, three ground balls, and two draw control to pace the Nor'easters.
 
UNE heads down south for its next two games beginning on Tuesday, March 12 against Husson in Hilton Head, S.C. Game time is set for 11 a.m.
