The Terriers snap a three-game skid in the win as they move to 2-3 (1-1 NAC) while the Hornets search for their first win at 0-5 (0-2 NAC).
Thomas jumped out to a big 17-point lead midway through the first half en route to a 52-21 lead at the break. The Terriers converted on 21 field goals before the half along with seven from behind the arch. Zach Mackinnon (Kennebunk, Maine) and Matt Allen (Barre, Vermont) combined 5-for-7 from three. John Morgan (Sanford, Maine) chipped in with ten points and five boards. The Hornets struggled with 12 turnovers and a 20.6 field goal percentage on 34 shots.
The Hornets came out strong in the second half but could not overcome the large first half deficit. Korey Steele led his team with 14 second half points while going 3-for-4 from the three-point line. Jahleel Gabriel neared a double-double in the half on nine points and nine rebounds. Justin Butler (Orlando Fla.) finished out the contest for the Terriers with a perfect 4-for-4 on the floor and 2-for-2 at the charity stripe.
The Terriers were led by Mackinnon with 14 points four rebounds, and three assists. Morgan and Butler each contributed with 12 points in the win.
Steele paced the Hornets with 14 points and two steals while Gabriel and Jimmy each finished with 11 points.
The Terriers are back in action at home on Saturday, December 2 as they take on Johnson State in a 3:00 p.m. matchup.
