Rockland, Maine - The Center for Maine Contemporary Art (CMCA) invites artists of all ages to explore shadows created with a variety of materials inspired by CMCA's current exhibition Materiality: The Matter of Matter during ArtLab for All Ages on Saturday, January 6, from 2 to 4pm.
Construct and play with plastics, velcro, wire, beads, papers, and mixed-media materials to assemble objects that will cast intricate and bold shadows. Led by ArtLab instructor Alexis Iammarino, you'll explore light and shadow with lamps and phone flashlights, finding ways to manipulate shadows as a dynamic stand-alone medium. Bring your friends, family, or come by yourself to CMCA at 21 Winter Street, Rockland. ArtLab welcomes children, teens, adults, and families, and is free of charge and open to all.
ArtLab for All Ages occurs on the first Saturday of every month. ArtLab is supported in part by the Milton and Sally Avery Art Foundation, Davis Family Foundation, Reny Foundation, Margaret E. Burnham Trust, and individual donors.
