Upcoming Boothbay Region Land Trust events for the end of July

Tuesday, July 19
Nature Hike at Pine Tree Preserve, Boothbay Harbor
Get out on the trails every Tuesday for a guided walk from 10 - 11 am with the Boothbay Region Land Trust. Our Nature Hike series meets weekly throughout the year and visits a different preserve each time for a moderately paced hike averaging 1 or 2 miles in length. Discover the preserves throughout the seasons and meet some fellow hikers. This event is free and advance registration is not required. Group meets at trail-head parking lot which is tucked in on the left on Ocean Point Road (Route 96), 0.5 mi. from the traffic light in front of Hannaford's, Boothbay Harbor. Wednesday, July 20
Babes in the Woods at Zak Preserve
Parents and caregivers are invited to bring their babies, toddlers, and older siblings on a hike from 10 - 11 am with the Boothbay Region Land Trust.This slow paced walk allows plenty of time to discover and observe the natural world, and special emphasis is made on sensory exploration of natural themes. This week's theme is "Birds and Blooms."  Group meets at the trail-head parking lot which is on Route 27, Boothbay, on the right, 5.3 mi. north of the traffic light in Boothbay Harbor. Thursday, July 21
Taste for Place: Wine Tasting & Boat Cruise
Join the Boothbay Region Land Trust from 5 - 9 pm at the Newagen Seaside Inn, 60 Cape Newagen Road, Southport, The unforgettable adventure will include wine tastings with food pairings, as well as a boat excursion from Newagen Seaside Inn to Linekin Bay Resort, and a view of BRLT’s Damariscove Island. The evening will begin at Newagen Seaside Inn where guests will be greeted by Sommelier Erica Archer of Winewise located in Portland, Maine. She will guide guests through an experience for the senses with delectable eats crafted by Newagen Seaside Inn's chef and high quality wines provided by Central Distributors. This is simply the kick-off to the evening, for a boat provided by Balmy Days Cruises will await attendees at the Inn’s pier.

Once aboard the vessel, guests will first be routed by Damariscove Island for a glimpse of the stunning Land Trust preserve before landing at Linekin Bay Resort. Visitors will have the privilege of being some of the first to see improvements to the Resort since ownership was taken over by Newagen Seaside Inn’s Scott Larson, and Steve Malcom of Knickerbocker Group. The evening will continue with more wine and food pairings in the lodge, before returning to Newagen Seaside Inn by boat. Coffee and dessert will be served during the return boat ride.

Tickets for this annual fundraiser include all food, drink, as well as the boat cruise, and can be purchased through the BRLT office for $125/person. Friday, July 22
Tails on the Trails at Porter Preserve
Calling all canines and their human companions! Join Boothbay Region Land Trust from 10 - 11 am for a dog friendly hike at the Porter Preserve, Kimballtown Road, Boothbay. All well behaved dogs are welcome and must be leashed. This is a great opportunity for you and your dog to get some exercise and social interaction. Group meets on the 4th Friday of every month at a different preserve for a hike averaging one mile. Hike begins at the trail head. Group meets at trail-head parking lot which is on Ocean Point Road, Boothbay, 3.8 miles from the traffic light at Hannaford's, Boothbay Harbor. Babes in the Woods at Hendricks Head Preserve
Parents and caregivers are invited to bring their babies, toddlers, and older siblings on a hike with the Boothbay Region Land Trust from 10 - 11 am. This slow paced walk allows plenty of time to discover and observe the natural world, and special emphasis is made on sensory exploration of natural themes. This week's theme is "Rotting Logs."  Group meets at the trail-head parking lot which is on Beach Road, Southport.  Parking is at the beach parking lot.
