Each kitchen has its own personality, and gives you an inspiring look at what creative homeowners can do, together with skilled designers, builders, and craftspeople. The chefs at work in each kitchen give you a sampling of the remarkable, ever-expanding dining choices available in our midcoast area.
The 2016 Kitchen Tour features these gracious homeowners and chefs:
1. Sally & Allen Fernald, 48 Chestnut Street, Camden An elegant three-story townhouse
overlooking Camden Harbor, with Cafe Miranda, Rockland (a.m.) and Katherine White, Private Chef, Camden (p.m.)
2. Kate & Alex Cohen, 6 Wood Street, Camden A lovely Federal-style home in the heart of Camden village, with Rhumb Line, Camden (a.m.) and Laugh Loud, Smile Big Cupcakes, Rockport (p.m.)
3. 5 Dillingham Point, Camden A new home tucked into a secluded spot on Camden Harbor, with Blue Sky Cantina, Rockport (a.m.) and Laura Cabot Catering, Waldoboro (p.m.)
4. Theola & Dave Gelerman, 169 Belfast Road, Camden A spacious kitchen with striking architectural detail, with Pig + Poet, Camden (a.m.) and Uncle Willy's Candy Shoppe, Camden (p.m.)
5. Theresa & Jeff Davis, 20 Pleasant Ridge, Camden A home with intriguing European floor tiles and eclectic decorative art, with 40 Paper, Camden (a.m.) and State of Maine Cheese, Rockport (p.m.)
6. Neall & Steve Johnson, 2250 Melvin Heights Road, Camden A graceful new home ornamented with prized family heirlooms, with FOG Bar & Cafe, Rockland (a.m.) and Susan Boivin, Food Services Director, MSAD 28 (p.m.)
7. Maureen Egan & Tim Seymour, 16 Ledgewood Drive, Rockport An "old-farmhouse kitchen" in a modern home with The Market Basket, Rockport (a.m.) and The Red Barn Baking Company, Lincolnville (p.m.)
8. Sheila Davenport, 12 Ocean View Lane, Rockport A kitchen with rich colors and materials, and a view to Acadia, with Bleeker & Flamm Maine Street Meats, Rockport (all day)

Give yourself plenty of time to visit all the kitchens, but go in any order and at your own pace. Properties are not handicapped-accessible; visitors tour at their own risk. Please carpool as much as possible. Parking for kitchens 1 and 2 is available at the First Congregational Church on Elm Street, and at the Montessori School on Pleasant Street.
If you buy your tickets before the day of the Tour, the price is only $30 for the whole day. On the day of the Tour, you can purchase a ticket for $40 at any of the kitchens, or at Merryspring Nature Center on Conway Road, Camden. You cannot purchase a ticket for an individual kitchen.
To save $10 by purchasing a $30 ticket in advance, stop in at Merryspring or any of these locations from Tuesday, July 19 through Tuesday, August 2: CAMDEN: Surroundings, Once a Tree, Zoot Coffee; ROCKPORT: The Market Basket; ROCKLAND: Atlantic Baking Company; BELFAST: The Good Table; DAMARISCOTTA: Rising Tide Community Market. Advance tickets are also available by e-mailing info@merryspring.org or calling 207-236-2239. Tickets will be held at Merryspring for pick-up the day of the Tour.
All proceeds from the Kitchen Tour support Merryspring Nature Center, a not-for-profit park and education center in Camden/Rockport, with 66 acres of gardens and nature trails open free of charge to the public every day, and a year-round program of talks, classes, and workshops.
