“Lobster Rollin' in the River” Offered Again at Free Summer Concert!

ELLSWORTH- The Grand is excited to announce a performance (and lobster roll dinner!) featuring the rockabilly madness of Maine's own “The Crown Vics” in concert at the Union River Harbor Park and Marina on Friday, July 29th at 6 pm as part of the annual Free Summer Waterfront Concerts. The Waterfront Concerts are sponsored by the City of Ellsworth. At this free concert, The Grand will be selling Lobster Rolls (with chips, cole slaw and a drink) as fundraiser for the theater beginning at 5 pm. Tickets for the dinner are $20– available in advance at The Grand or at the waterfront on the evening of “The Crown Vics” performance. Desserts will be available for an additional cost. There are red hot dogs and tofu dogs that can be purchased as an alternative to lobster for $10.

Running the gamut from home-grown rock to Acadian fiddle to an all-youth Orchestra, this year’s
series of free summer Waterfront Concerts has something for everybody. And now “The Crown Vics” will be sharing their music with enthusiastic audiences of all ages as part of both a free concert and a fundraising lobster roll dinner for the Grand Theater in Ellsworth!

It was listening to the music of Led Zeppelin, The Grateful Dead, punk rock, new wave, '90's alt-rock and all kinds of blues and soul while growing up in New York City, Hollywood, suburban New Jersey and Downeast Maine, that taught Frank Schawrtz (Guitar, Dobro and Vocals), Drew Myers (Lead Vocals and Harmonica), Gordon Fellis (Bass and Vocals) and Steve Peer (Drums and Vocals) the essentials of rock'n'roll. It would be decades, and many dive bar bands later, that these four unlikely and very different cats ended up rehearsing one winter night in Steve's living room. After that initial rehearsal “The Vics” immediately started headlining shows. With their gung-ho spirit, short and to the point songs (with hardly a breath between numbers), the band causes quite a hullabaloo when they take the stage. That's right, future hep cats and cool kittens, “The Crown Vics” are in town! No more searching desperately through hotrod magazines, or marathon viewings of Elvis movies, and Horton Heat videos! No more calling up friends in the middle of the night to find out what's cool and what not! Now the band comes to perform for everyone for free at the Summer Waterfront Concert in Ellsworth.

So, bring a friend, a blanket or chair, and an appetite for home-made lobster rolls. Share the experience of tearing the waterfront up by dancing the night away with “The Vics” in the open air, enjoy a tasty dinner and take in the sounds of "The Crown Vics" at the Union River Harbor Park and Marina on Friday, July 29th at 6 pm as part of the annual free Summer Waterfront Concerts presented by The Grand and sponsored by the City of Ellsworth on Fridays at 6pm continuing through Friday August 26th.
