WESTFIELD, Mass. -- The University of New England men's cross country
team placed fifth out of 38 teams at the 2015 James Earley Invitational
hosted by Westfield State University at Stanley Park on Saturday (Oct.
10). The Nor'easters split their squad today, with other runners
competing at the Runnin' Monks Invitational held at Saint Joseph's
College.
UNE registered an aggregate score of 201 to finish
behind Union College (100), College of St. Rose (131), Westfield State
(140) and Norwich University (192).
CJ Vallie was the first Nor'easter to cross the finish line, recording a time of 27:07 to place 23rd in a field of 373 competitors. Paul Mangiafico placed 30th with a time of 27:17, and Peter LePage was just six seconds behind and finished in 35th place.
Matthew Toussaint and Christian Leighton also scored for Big Blue, placing 46th and 72nd, respectively. Toussaint clocked a time of 27:23 and Leighton 28:11.
Westfield
State alumnus Jesse Regnier was the first runner to cross the finish
line. He had a time of 25:42. Justin Zorn of Union was the first
collegiate runner to complete the course.
The Nor'easters will compete at the State of Maine Championship next Saturday.
