FB: Husson dismantles Castleton, 40-7‏

BANGOR, Maine - Joe Seccareccia was 18-of-24 through the air for 298 yards and four touchdowns Saturday, leading Husson to a 40-7 dismantling of Castleton (Vt.) at Winkin Sports Complex in the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) opener for both teams. The Eagles win their eighth-straight ECFC game.
Husson (2-1, 1-0 ECFC) rolled up 545 yards of total offense while limiting Castleton (2-2, 0-1 ECFC) to 222. The Eagles recorded 301 yards passing and 244 via the ground.
The Eagles struck first midway through the first quarter, as Seccareccia hit Deon Wiggins in stride for a 61-yard touchdown.
The Spartans only score on the day, a Corey Brimmer one-yard touchdown run four seconds into the second quarter, tied the affair at seven and capped off a 20-play, 75-yard drive.
Husson retook the lead for good deep in the second stanza when John Smith plunged into the endzone from four yards out to finish off a 17-play, 97-yard march that lasted 8:45. The extra point attempt was blocked, making the score 13-7 with 2:44 on the clock.
After the a quick three-and-out on the Spartans next possession, which included two incomplete
passes by George Busharis, the Eagles game themselves breathing room after taking over with 2:08 left before halftime. Three plays later, Seccareccia found Greg Moore behind the Castleton secondary for a 63-yard scoring toss. Smith's rush on the two-point conversion attempt was successful, giving the Eagles a two-touchdown lead at intermission.

Husson's defense smothered Castleton throughout the final two quarters, limiting the visitors to just 101 yards and three turnover on downs and as many three-and-outs.
Meanwhile, the Eagles put together a 10-play, 85-yard scoring drive in the first 4:27 of the third quarter. Smith finished off the series with a 13-yard touchdown scamper. The extra point attempt missed left, but Husson led 27-7.
A Seccareccia to Robenson Saintard connection 10 seconds into the fourth quarter turned into a 45-yard touchdown pass and a 33-7 Husson advantage, capping an eight-play, 72-yard drive.
The final score of the day came midway through the stanza when Seccareccia's fourth touchdown pass found the hands of Wiggins.
Smith finished with 98 yards and two scores on 20 carries. Logan Steward added 80 yards on 16 rushes.
Saintard caught seven passes for 94 yards and one touchdown. Wiggins hauled in four receptions for 83 yards and two scores. Moore had 59 yards on two catches and a touchdown.
Alonzo Connor posted 15 tackles, 0.5 sacks and 1.5 tackles for loss in the win. Ellis Throckmorton had 14 tackles, one sack, a tackle for loss and quarterback hurry. Bryant Wade totaled 11 tackles, 0.5 tackles for loss, a pass breakup and two pressures. Tarik Smith had one sack, while Tobey Harrington, Kenny Sweet and Elvin Suazo each had half a sack.
Harrington also registered 2.5 tackles for loss. Smith had two, and Sweet had 1.5. Sweet also had two pass breakups and a quarterback hurry. Ian Palmer recorded two quarterback hurries.
Moe Harris rushed 17 times for 42 yards in the loss.
Busharis was 14-of-31 passing for 158 yards and was sacked four times.
Soren Pelz-Walsh had 66 yards on three catches.
Darren Callan totaled 15 tackles in defeat.
Husson travels to Anna Maria (Mass.) on Saturday, Oct. 10. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. ET.
