Bowdoin Women's Soccer Shuts Out Beavers for One Goal Victory

FARMINGTON, Maine – The Bowdoin women's soccer team was able to keep the University of Maine at Farmington off the board to secure a 1-0 win on Sunday afternoon.

The Polar Bears (7-4-1) collect their second win in as many days after downing the Beavers (5-9-1) in regulation.
How It Happened
  • Maggie Godley tallied the only goal of the contest in the 18th minute. With the Polar Bears on the attack, Brigit Bergin lined a shot on goal which UMF goalie Kiana Thompson was able to deflect away. The Beavers attempted to clear the ball, but Godley was able to come away with possession and booted in the Polar Bears lone goal.
  • UMF's best scoring opportunity came in the 10th minute after the Beavers forced a turnover. Lydia Roy's breakaway opportunity sailed high over the crossbar, eliminating the threat.
  • Bowdoin outshot the Beavers by a 38-4 margin, with Kiana Thompson stopping 17 stops for UMF. Rachel Stout made one save to earn the shutout for Bowdoin.
