Camden Public Library Events

Thursday, September 5

John and Rachel Nicholas perform at the Camden Library Coffeehouse at 7:00 pm. David Dodson will be the Special Guest; admission is only $5, and $4 for seniors and students. Refreshments will be available.


Saturday, September 7

Midcoast Mini Maker Faire, hosted by the Camden Public Library and Midcoast Magnet. The Maker Faire is a show of ideas, energy, creativity, and fun. This is a free, outdoor, family-friendly event open to all ages. This year’s event, running from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm in the Library’s Amphitheatre, will display over 20 maker exhibits.

“Simply Books” is the Camden Public Library’s book group for adults, meeting monthly on first Saturdays at 2:00 pm. Simply bring along whatever book you’re currently reading and share it with the group.


Monday, September 9
 Dr. Eric Betz will speak on “The Secrets to Permanent Weight Loss” at 12:00 noon at the Camden Public Library as part of the Wellness series co-hosted by the Library and Pen-Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce. The talk will describe blood sugar imbalances, low metabolism, toxicity, poor sleep, and nerve pressure, all of which have an impact on weight loss and overall health.

 Regular meeting of the Tuesday Book Club, 1:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. All are welcome. Call 470-7473 FMI.


Tuesday, September 10
 Camden Philosophical Society Reading Group, 4:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. The Camden Philosophical Society’s monthly reading group welcomes all interested readers, and no formal philosophical training is necessary. Everyone with an interest in reading and discussion is welcome.


Tuesday, September 10
 First session of The Hatchery Entrepreneurial Series, 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. The Hatchery is a series of free workshops for people considering starting a business of their own, and will run every two weeks. Participants may attend the whole series or sit in on individual workshops. The Hatchery will be anchored by Ken Greenleaf, microenterprise consultant, and is a cooperative effort of MaineStream Finance, Midcoast Magnet, Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce, and the Camden Public Library, sponsored by Bangor Savings Bank.

Tuesday, September 17
 The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (also known as Obamacare) requires every American to have health insurance or pay a penalty. Allen Insurance and Financial will give an informational workshop at the Camden Public Library at 5:30 pm, and again at 7:00 pm. The sessions are free. 


Thursday, September 19
 Midcoast Audubon Society presents Annie Kassler on “Bats,” 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library, why we should care about bats, myths versus facts, and more.
