West Springfield, Massachusetts - Governor Paul R. LePage will attend the 2013 Eastern States Exposition in Massachusetts on Saturday, Sept. 28 to promote Maine products. Saturday is “Maine Day” at the “Big E”, which is the largest fair in the Northeast.
“The Big E is a wonderful opportunity to promote Maine products and support economic development in every corner of our state,” said Governor LePage. “I am told that in the State of Maine building at the Big E, sales of Maine products have been brisk. We are selling 10 or 11 Maine potatoes a minute at the baked-potato booth.”
The Eastern States Exposition takes place every September in West Springfield, Mass. Last year’s attendance set a new record, as nearly 1.37 million fairgoers passed through the Big E gates over 17 days. The Big E drew 150,407 visitors last Saturday.
Built in 1925, the State of Maine building showcases Maine foods and products and features information on Maine’s many recreational and vacation opportunities. It is one of six exhibition halls representing each of the New England States.
The exposition began September 13 and ends Sunday, September 29.
