Waldoboro Fire Department celebrates 175th anniversary THIS WEEKEND

WALDOBORO, Maine - The Waldoboro Fire Department will be hosting their 175th Anniversary Celebration this coming summer. The dates are Friday, August 9, 2013 through Sunday, August 11, 2013.

Here are some of the things they have lined up:

Friday the 9th through Sunday the 11th - Carnival with Smokey's Greater Shows - FREE ADMISSION (you only have to pay for food and rides).  The carnival is behind Miller School on Kalers Corner Street.

Friday the 9th through Sunday the 11th - Open house at the Fire Station.  Stop by the Fire Station and see Waldoboro's first 3 fire engines, the Water Witch, the Medomak, and the Triumph, along with the current apparatus.  Also in display will be the impressive Fire Department patch display from around the U.S.A. along with letters of congratulations.  Friday the 9th by chance, Saturday the 10th 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday the 11th from noon to 8:00 p.m.

Friday the 9th through Sunday the 11th -White's Company - Revolutionary War Encampment. Presentations and demonstrations of military and civillian life in the last quarter of the 18th century all weekend.  Click for their schedule and directions.

Friday 08/09/13:
5:30 p.m. - Memorial Service - Join us in honoring the firefighters who have served the Waldoboro Fire Department over the past 175 years.  To be held onstage at the Sukeforth Field at the Waldoboro Recreation Complex.  The Freeport Flag Ladies will be present for the service.

6:30 p.m. - Miss Water Witch Male Beauty Pageant - Click Here for Rules - Click Here for an Application - GUYS... do you have what it takes to be crowned the first and only Miss Water Witch?!  Cash prize to the winner and runner up.  To be held on stage at the Sukeforth Field at the Waldoboro Recreation Complex.  WCSH 6 Reporter Don Carrigan will be the Master of Ceremonies.  All contestants will be able to get a free hair style and made up.  Bad Hair Days in Waldoboro will assist with the hair and make up.  Contact Kathy at Bad Hair Days, 832-6690, for details.

8:00 p.m. - FREE Concert with Bad Penny - Country / Country Rock Band Bad Penney will be performing live on stage at the Sukeforth Field at the Waldoboro Recreation Complex.  This great night of music is FREE to the public.

Saturday 08/10/13:
8:00 a.m. - 10K Roadrace - Starts at the Lincoln County Fish & Game Association building on Cross St. Registration starts at 7:00 a.m. at the Waldoboro Fire Station (Click for Registration Form).  Runners will be transported to the starting point before the race.  Pre-registration is $15.00 or $18.00 the day of the race. 2:00 p.m. - Parade - Everyone loves a parade and this plans on being the largest parade that's been in Waldoboro in years!  The Patriot Guard Riders, Fireman Fred, Rocky Bay Pipe Band, Crazy Cops (Kora Shriners), The American Legion Riders of Maine, Bagpiper Jeff Hebster, Anah Shrine Lobster Boat Unit, Maine Humorist Gary Crocker, The 2013 Sea Goddess and Crown Princess, The Amazing Lou, Crusher of the Red Claws, Midcoast Community Band, The Pirates of the Dark Rose, Chandler's Band, Bill & Ben from Meadow Creek Farm, Kora Karts, George Enman will be flying over the downtown with his Cessna 180 sea plane, Grand Master of Masons of Maine, The USS Maine Base Memorial Float & the Maine Submarine Veterans, Rick Adam, And much, much MORE!!! Parade will start at the old Sylvania Plant site on Friendship Rd. (across from ALLPLaY Bowling Alley) and travel down Jefferson St., ending at the VFW Hall on Mill St.

3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. - The Amazing Lou - After the parade, Amazing Lou will be on hand to perform his magic tricks for children young and old at the Waldoboro Recreation Complex.

3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. - Welcome to the World of Rick Adam - After the parade, stilt walker Rick Adam will be entertaining the crowd at the Waldoboro Recreation Complex.

3:00 to 8:00 p.m. - Wagon Rides with Bill & Ben - After the parade, Meadow Creek Farms will be offering wagon rides with their Belgian Draft Horses Bill & Ben. Rides will be going from the Waldoboro Recreation Complex to Jefferson St. and back.

4:00 p.m. - The Bagpipes in History - Maine Bagpiper and Professional Musician Jeff Hebster will be performing LIVE on stage at the Sukeforth Field at the Waldoboro Recreation Complex.

4:00 p.m. - Chicken BBQ - Hosted by the Jefferson Fire Department.  The Jefferson Fire Department's famous Chicken BBQ is coming to Waldoboro!!  Proceeds of the BBQ benefit the Jefferson Fire Department.  This is a great way to help support our area Fire Departments.  $10.00 per person.

8:00 p.m. - Concert with Motor Booty Affair - Disco comes to Waldoboro!  If you have never heard Motor Booty perform, you will be in for a treat, and you will be sure to be getting your 'groove on'!  Motor Booty will be performing LIVE on stage at the Sukeforth Field at the Waldoboro Recreation Complex.  This historic and great night of music is FREE to the public.

Sunday 08/11/13:
2:00 p.m. - Concert with Rick Charette and the Bubble Gum Band - Fun afternoon of songs for the children! Rick Charette and the Bubble Gum Band will be performing LIVE on stage at the Sukeforth Field at the Waldoboro Recreation Complex.  After the show, Rick will be signing autographs and selling DVD's and CD's.  This great fun afternoon of music is FREE to the public.

3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. - Welcome to the Workd of Rick Adam - Stilt walker Rick Adam RETURNS and will be entertaining the crowd at the Waldoboro Recreation Complex.

4:00 p.m. - Concert with Fireman Fred the Singing Fireman - Presque Isle Maine's naitive son Fred Parsons will be performing LIVE on stage at the Sukeforth Field at the Waldoboro Recreation Complex.  Come and enjoy the patriotic music of Fireman Fred.  This heartwarming concert is FREE to the public.

4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. - The Amazing Lou - Amazing Lou RETURNS and will be on hand to perform his magic tricks for children young and old at the Waldoboro Recreation Complex.

4:00 p.m. - Pig Roast - Hosted by the Union Fire Department.  Union Fire Departments famous Pig Roast is coming to Waldoboro!!  Proceeds of the Pic Roast benefit the Union Fire Department.  This is a great way to help support our area Fire Departments.

7:00 p.m. - Concert with Emerald Sky - Country / Southern Rock Band Emerald Sky will be performing LIVE on stage at the Sukeforth Field at the Waldoboro Recreation Complex.  This great night of music is FREE to the public.

9:00 p.m. - Spectacular Fireworks Extravaganza - Watch the sky light up in celebration as the weekend's festivities come to a close.  This is sure to be the biggest fireworks show in Waldoboro's history!!

Visit the Waldoboro Fire Department's souvenir booth all weekend long to purchase commemorative items to help you remember this historic weekend!!

If you get hot and thirsty this weekend, stop by the 'Ice on the Move, Shaved Ice Stand' - Over 70 flavors to pick from.  Prices start at $2.50 and a portion of all sales will be donated to the Waldoboro Fire Department.
