Opening reception for Artist of the Month Linda Shepard at the Camden Public Library 5:00-8:00 pm. Shepard creates large, colorful, intricate, and bold fabric art; her show is titled “Creature Features,” a collection of whimsical and colorful fish, reptiles, butterflies, insects, birds, and beasts. This exhibition will be the very first art show for Linda Shepard. Shepard’s studio is in her home in Union.

First-ever Midcoast Mini Maker Faire, hosted by the Camden Public Library and Midcoast Magnet. The Maker Faire is a show of ideas, energy, creativity, and fun. This is a free, outdoor, family-friendly event open to all ages. This year’s event, running from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm in the Library’s Amphitheatre, will display over 20 maker exhibits.
“Simply Books” is the Camden Public Library’s book group for adults, meeting monthly on first Saturdays at 2:00 pm. Simply bring along whatever book you’re currently reading and share it with the group.

Dr. Eric Betz will speak on “The Secrets to Permanent Weight Loss” at 12:00 noon at the Camden Public Library as part of the Wellness series co-hosted by the Library and Pen-Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce. The talk will cover blood sugar imbalances, low metabolism, toxicity, poor sleep, and nerve pressure, all of which have an impact on weight loss and overall health.

First session of The Hatchery Entrepreneurial Series, 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. The Hatchery is a series of free workshops for people considering starting a business of their own, and will run every two weeks beginning September 10. Participants may attend the whole series or sit in on individual workshops. The Hatchery will be anchored by Ken Greenleaf, microenterprise consultant, and is a cooperative effort of MaineStream Finance, Midcoast Magnet, Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce, and the Camden Public Library, sponsored by Bangor Savings Bank.

“Medical Cannabis 101” presented by Becky DeKeuster, Executive Clinical Director of Wellness Connection of Maine, and Dr. James Li, emergency physician at Miles Memorial Hospital, 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. The purpose of the presentation is to provide a basic education about the history and science of this medicine, with an introduction to Maine’s medical marijuana law.
