Event: Local Author Visit: Katherine Silva
Date: Thursday, January 17, 2013, 7pm
Location: Vose Library, 392 Common Road, Union, ME
Description: Katherine Silva returns to our local author visit programs in celebration of her latest book, the second of the Monstrum Chronicles. In a world with a shadow realm inhabited by lilitu (vampire-like creatures), a tragic op- era star, a teacher and a lilitu trying to reverse events in the past will discover how far they will go and what it really means to live. Event: Cyberslammed: Cyberbullying Presentation
Date: Tuesday, January 22, 2013, 7pm
Location: Vose Library, 392 Common Road, Union, ME
Description: Kay Stephens, a Midcoast author whose latest cyberbullying prevention book Cyberslammed: Understand, Prevent, Combat and Transform The Most Common Cyberbullying Tactics, just launched this fall under the sponsorship of Time Warner Cable, will deliver a one-hour presentation to parents and educators of teens in fifth to 12th grade. Touching on each of the six tactics in the book (including sexting and several forms of anonymous aggression) Stephens will demonstrate how to identify each tactic, along with prevention tips from cyberbullying experts, law enforcement, attorneys, and educators.
