Seven Minutes In Heaven at Rockland Library January 31

Rockland, Maine - A Screening and Discussion of the film Seven Minutes in Heaven on Thursday January 31 at 6:30 PM. Post-Film Discussion by Bill Halpin & Saskia Huising.
Co-Sponsored with Camden Conference Community Events

Sometimes existing can feel like a burden, rather than the blessing it is. That’s how it feels to Galia (played by Reymonde Amsellen), who was clinically dead for seven minutes, yet returned to the land of the living.  For the past year she has tended not just to her own physical injuries but also to her boyfriend Oren. The event that left him in a coma and her back badly scarred is a deeply emotional blur, afflicting her with visions, memory gaps, and acute survivor’s guilt. Most of her recollections come from the reports of others, but when Oren passes away and a familiar necklace is anonymously returned to her, Galia realizes that in order to move forward, she must discover the missing pieces from that fateful day. Gently paced and melancholy in tone, this mystical-drama-thriller takes a change in course that propels it into fascinating territory. Written and directed by Omri Givon (in  his directorial debut), “Seven Minutes in Heaven” depicts one woman’s struggle with questions which may not have answers.

The film won festival awards in Haifa, Warsaw, and Bratislava (Slovakia); and actress Reymonde Amsellen was nominated for Best Actress by the Israeli Film Academy.

This event is Co-sponsored by the Camden Conference Community Events Series in anticipation of the 26th Annual Camden Conference: The Middle East: What Next? - February 22-24, 2013.
