Susan Lacy’s moving documentary about Joni Mitchell is a heartfelt account of the life of one of America's most acclaimed songwriters and performers. Mitchell’s story is told from her early years in Canada, through her first failed marriage, through her various friendships and loves, but most of all through her songs and her paintings. Also seen are concert films and home movies of Mitchell with such co-workers and intimates as David Crosby, James Taylor, Graham Nash, and David Geffen. Woman of Heart and Mind charts Mitchell’s musical career over four decades during which she embraced a variety of musical styles, including folk, jazz and rock. One reviewer noted: “I've never been a Joni Mitchell fan. But this documentary shows that whether I like her or not is beside the point. She is an extraordinary artist.”
