Bay Chamber’s Odeon Winter Concert Free!

Bay Chamber’s Odeon Winter Concert set for January 22
Free concert will feature talented local musicians of all ages!

For a wonderful evening of entertainment, come enjoy Bay Chamber’s Odeon Winter Concert on Tuesday, January 22nd at 6:30pm at the Rockport Opera House.  The concert is free and all are welcome to attend.   Odeon Allegro, Symphony and Adult Orchestras, conducted by Deirdre McClure assisted by Gilda Joffe, will perform. The concert is sponsored by Camden National Bank.

The Winter Concert will feature work by Beethoven, Handel and the familiar Scarboro Fair of Simon and Garfunkel fame.  In additional chamber music will be presented by small groups of students who are also members of the Odeon ensembles. Refreshments of cookies and cider will be offered at the intermission. These concerts are a way for the community to honor and celebrate the student musicians from Bay Chamber Music School who have worked all semester to present this repertoire.


Bay Chamber Music School invites local musicians of all ages and abilities to audition for the spring term of the Odeon Orchestra program.  Auditions will be held on Tuesday, January 29th between 3:30 and 5pm at 18 Central Street, in downtown Rockport.  The Odeon program is open to all instruments: strings, winds, brass and percussion. Auditions are for placement only, all musicians will be placed in an ensemble appropriate to their abilities.  Adults interested in joining the Odeon Adult Orchestra do not need to audition.  For students taking lessons at the music school, membership in Odeon is free of charge. Rehearsals for all groups begin on Tuesday, February 5th  and scholarships are available.

The mission of the Odeon Orchestras is to offer musicians the opportunity to play in a variety of ensemble settings, to develop the musical skills necessary for ensemble play, and to perform orchestral and other works in concert settings that are open to the public.
