Amateurs and professionals competed with their best chili and chowders Monday, Dec. 19, in an event to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The event were organized by the Rockland Professional Firefighters Local 1584 chapter of the International Association of Fire Fighters and being held at Trackside Station, 4 Union St., Rockland.
The public were invited to taste, enjoy and judge the entries from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19, during the event at Trackside. Winners were chosen in the professional category, featuring local restaurants, as well as in the individual category.
Along with tasty chili and chowder there was a 50/50 raffle and local 1584 T-shirts on sale. Admission for folks interested in attending the benefit was $10 at the door with proceeds going to the MDA. A ballot was included with admission to choose the best chili and chowder.

The Chili and Chowder winners were Rock City Cafe (Professional Chowder Category), Trackside Station (Professional Chili Category), Stephanie H. (Individual Chili Category), Ryan B. (Individual Chowder Category).
Overall, I think the Trackside Station first annual Chili & Chowder Cookoff benefiting MDA was a huge success with this place being full most of the evening.
