Shoot Maine Studios Publications Press Release

Shoot Maine Studios of Rockland Maine announces the launch of  The MaineSail Magazine, a premium magazine centered around classic sailing on the coast of Maine.  The magazine is published quarterly in an 8.5 x 11 book bound coffee table style with no advertising.
The MaineSail Magazine is the creation of Maine author and photographer Doug Mills to celebrate the traditions and history of classic sailing in Maine.  Doug is the grandson and great grandson of Maine lighthouse keepers with a rich history of shipbuilders, owners and captains.  Doug is a nautical photographer and author specializing in the historic tall ships that call Maine home.  In 2007 Doug started Shoot Maine Studios and has created one of the largest collections of nautical photographs centered around the historic fleet of two and three masted schooners, which sail the Maine waters.
With over 40 years in the arts, Doug brings a wealth of artistic expression to his photography. Doug's photos will transport you to a place where life is simple and the rugged unspoiled beauty will take your breath away.
The MaineSail Magazine features such stories as:
The First Assistant, written by a former lighthouse keeper.  This story though fiction opens a window to the past and what it was like to be a lighthouse keeper on the coast of Maine at the turn of the century.
First hand stories from such major sailing events as The Great Schooner Race 2011 and The 1871 Showdown as two 140 year old schooners celebrate their birthdays by racing from Camden to Rockland Maine.
