Christmas By The Sea--Camden

Christmas By The Sea

From the Festival of Lights in Rockland Thanksgiving weekend to fireworks over Camden harbor in celebration of the 25th anniversary of Christmas by the Sea, to Santa flying into Owls Head, to the pleasures of shopping where people take the time to chat and one can stroll Main Street rather than the mall, the Midcoast from St George to Lincolnville will shine this holiday season!

The festivities began the weekend after Thanksgiving when the city of Rockland took center stage with its glorious Festival of Lights. The floats in the “Light Parade” made their way through downtown, the lobster trap Christmas tree was lit (and shines brightly every night) and carolers lustily sang.

On Friday, December 2, Camden, Rockport, and Lincolnville took up the sleigh reins. A spectacular fireworks display kicked off the 25th anniversary of the popular Christmas by the Sea weekend, trees were lit, and Santa serenaded with carols.

These two kick-off weekends are just a couple of the many events planned for this year’s holiday season. Check the calendar pages on the Chamber websites: it pays to stay close to home for the holidays!

Maine's coastal mountains of Rockland and Camden are the place to get into the holiday spirit: with great food, fabulous shopping, special lodging packages and a slew of holiday activities for the family that you won’t want to miss.
