BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Junior Jessica Wilson
led the way in 23rd place out of 385 runners overall as the Bates
College women's cross country team placed 13th out of 45 teams on Friday
at the Paul Short Invitational College Women's Brown 6K race at Lehigh
University.
Bates placed fourth out of 18 Division III squads, trailing only
eighth-place Keene State, ninth-place and 23rd-ranked Colby and
10th-place Swarthmore. The Bobcats outpaced No. 20 and 20th-place
Allegheny, as well as upper-division programs as Seton Hill, Saint
Francis, Siena and Bucknell.
Wilson (Cumberland, Maine) was 23rd overall and seventh among Division
III runners, covering the 6-kilometer course in 22:06, a 5:55 per mile
pace. Senior Isabelle Unger (Charlotte, Vt.) came in 54th overall (22:33), followed closely by junior Molly Chisholm (Wayland, Mass.) in 59th (22:36) and sophomore Katherine Cook (South Burlington, Vt.) in 74th (22:43). Senior Julia Fisher (Philadelphia, Pa.) rounded out the team scoring in 158th (23:26), while the team's displacers comprised senior captain Addie Cullenberg (Farmington, Maine) in 170th (23:35) and sophomore Mary Szatkowski (Buxton, Maine) in 192nd (23:45).
Bates competes at all-divisions Open New Englands next Saturday, Oct. 10, at Franklin Park in Boston.
