Kinney and Murano Set a Career Mark in UMF’s Win Over Thomas

FARMINGTONMaine – Kaiti Kinney (Surry, Maine/Ellsworth) and Haley Murano (Brunswick, Maine/Brunswick) tallied their first-career goals as the University of Maine at Farmington (4-7-1, 2-4-1) topped Thomas College (6-7-0, 3-3-0) with a 3-0 shutout victory on Thursday afternoon in North Atlantic Conference action.

Kinney only needed a little over a minute into the game to get the Beavers on the scoreboard. After the Beavers pushed the tempo, Lydia Roy headed a pass in front of the net to Kinney, who knocked in the go-ahead score.

The lone goal stayed intact until Bridget Humphrey (Jefferson, Maine/Erskine Academy) doubled UMF's lead in the 70th minute. Humphrey lined a shot from, just outside of the box, which deflected off the post and into the back of the net.

Humphrey set up Farmington's final goal by taking a free kick on the right side of the box. Humphrey launched the cross to the far side of the goal where Murano was standing for the easy header.
The Beavers were on the attack for nearly the entire game by outshooting the Terriers, 40-6.

In her first-career start in goal, Kiana Thompson (Industry, Maine/Mt. Blue) earned her first-career victory for UMF with a pair of saves.

UMaine-Farmington hosts Bowdoin on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. in the non-conference finale of the season.
