Field Hockey Defeats Dartmouth 2-1 to Improve to 13-2 on the Season

Hanover, NH -- The University of Maine Field Hockey Team defeated Dartmouth 2-1 Tuesday afternoon to improve their record to 13-2 on the season. Dartmouth drops to 4-7 on the year.

Emma Cochran started in goal for the Black Bears and saw six total shots and only one was on goal.
Nicole Sevey scored early for Maine, 3:54 into the first half, it was unassisted. Sevey was able to turnaround at the top of the circle and put the ball into the cage to give the Black Bears a 1-0 lead.

Dartmouth was able to respond with a goal of their own, off of a corner play to tie the game at 1-1 25 minutes into the first half.

Maine was able to regain the lead once again, this time from Madison Cummings, Samantha Gomes was able to set up the goal on the assist that gave the Black Bears a 2-1 lead heading into half-time.
Maine and Dartmouth were tied at 6 shots and Dartmouth had 5 penalty corners to Maine's 1.

In the second half, Emily Corbett started in goal for Maine. She faced only one shot on goal and Katie Bingle also picked up a defensive save  to preserve the victory for the Black Bears.

Cochran receives the decision and picks up the win. Maine was able to outshoot Dartmouth 12-10 during the game, Dartmouth had the advantage on penalty corners 7-2.

Maine returns home this Friday to kick off Homecoming weekend at 3:00 p.m. against America East rival UNH.
