The teams played to a 2-2 tie in the second half but four unanswered goals to start the game by the Bengals provided the final margin of victory. Ferland scored three of her four goals in the first half, including one only four minutes into the game. She would score her second goal less than four minutes later on a penalty kick to give the Bengals a quick 2-0 edge. Catherine Bruno added a goal in the 32nd minute before Ferland picked up the hat trick with her third goal of the match in the 34th minute of action.
After halftime the Bobcats switched keepers but that didn't impact Ferland who proceeded to score her fourth and final goal of the match in the 52nd minute.
Bates got on the board against the Bengals in the 61st minute. Maggie Coco took a corner kick and Olivia Amdur was able to deflect the kick into the net for her third goal of the season. Amdur's three goals on the year tie her with Leah Humes for the team lead.
The Bobcats struck again in the 78th minute as Karen Lockhart picked up her first goal of the season off a beautiful cross from Ana Urbina.
Maine-Fort Kent added their final goal in the final minute of the match as Kayla Richards was able to score off a deflection.
The Bobcats return to conference play on Wednesday as they host rival Bowdoin at 4:00 p.m.
