Orono, Maine -- University of Maine linebacker Ray Miller has been named the CAA Co-Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday, Nov. 1.
Miller posted a game-high 11 tackles, one shy of his career-high, to go along with a career-high 2.5 sacks and a career-high matching 3.0 tackles for loss. His 11 tackles marked the third time this season in which he's registered double-digit tackling totals in a single game.
Miller's efforts guided Maine to their third-straight victory, a 45-24 triumph at #24 Rhode Island. The graduate student played a lead role in Maine's overall defensive effort, which saw the Black Bears limit Rhode Island to just 68 rush yards, 10 total first downs, just three first half points, and limiting the Rams to just 2-of-12 on third down.
The Black Bears return to action on Saturday, Nov. 6 when they host Stony Brook on Senior Day in Orono at noon. Tickets are available by visiting GoBlackBears.com/tickets or by phone at 207.581.BEAR.
