Orono, Maine -- For the second time this season, University of Maine running back Freddie Brock has been named the CAA Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday, Nov. 1.
Brock guided an impressive Maine rushing attack in a win at #24 Rhode Island as he carried the ball 18 times for a career-high 123 yards and a touchdown. With his score on Saturday, Brock has now registered a touchdown in each of his last three outings, and five of his last six. Brock's 123 yard performance marked the first 100+ yard rushing showing for a Black Bear since Sept. 21, 2019 (Joe Fitzpatrick, 102 yards, at Colgate) and was the most rush yards by a Black Bear since Ramon Jefferson rushed for 186 yards in Maine's 2018 NCAA Quarterfinal victory over Jacksonville State.
Brock and the Black Bears return to action on Saturday, Nov. 6 when they host Stony Brook at noon on Senior Day in Orono. Tickets are available by visiting GoBlackBears.com/tickets or by phone at 207.581.BEAR.
