AUGUSTA - Democratic candidate Sean C. Paulhus was elected to the House District 52 seat in the special election Tuesday, April 2, 2019, announced Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap.
The Elections Division of the Bureau of Corporations, Elections and Commissions completed certification of the official voting results today, confirming that Paulhus defeated Republican candidate Kenneth D. Sener, 975 to 491 votes. A total of 1,474 ballots were cast in the special election for House District 52, which includes the City of Bath; 8 ballots were blank.
Tuesday's special election was necessitated by the resignation of Rep. Jennifer DeChant of Bath, who resigned her position on Feb. 1, 2019.
Paulhus will be sworn in to serve the remainder of DeChant's term, through November 2020.
