Bangor, Maine -  City of Bangor employees Rindy Fogler and Chief Thomas Higgins were recognized with awards this week for their outstanding and dedicated service to the Bangor community.

Higgins, Chief of the Bangor Fire Department, received the Outstanding Emergency Manager of the Year award from the Maine County EMA Directors at an event in Augusta. A City employee for over 20 years, Higgins has served as Bangor Fire Chief for over four years. In October 2018, Higgins received the Fire Chief of the Year Award from the Maine Fire Chiefs' Association.

"Many of us at City Hall see first-hand the hard work that our department heads and employees put in on a daily basis," said Cathy Conlow, City Manager for the City of Bangor. "It's always reaffirming when other organizations offer recognition as well, especially when the work our employees do directly improves the lives of our citizens."
