Chatham first Double-A RBI in 8-1 loss to Reading

Portland, Maine - The Reading Fightin Phils (3-0) powered their way to an 8-1 win over the Sea Dogs (0-3) on Saturday afternoon at Hadlock Field. Reading has taken the first three of the four-game season-opening series with Portland.

Reading pitchers combined to strike out 16 Portland hitters in the ballgame while allowing just two hits.  Starter David Parkinson (W, 1-0) went the first five innings, allowing just one run on one hit while walking three and striking out 10.  Jakob Hernandez worked two perfect innings of relief and fanned four. JD Hammer finished out the game and allowed just one hit.

Reading jumped out to an early lead with three runs on five hits in the second inning off of Sea Dogs starter Tanner Houck.  Two innings later, the Fightins added four more runs - all with two outs - on six more hits.

Houck (L, 0-1) allowed seven runs on 11 hits over four innings in his Double-A debut.  The righty walked three and struck out three.

The Fightins offense combined for 15 hits.  Mickey Moniak had two hits and three RBIs, Henri Lartigue notched two hits and two RBIs, and Jose Antequera had four hits and reached base five times.

The Sea Dogs will look to avoid being swept in the series finale tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 pm at Hadlock Field.  LHP Darwinzon Hernandez takes the mound for Portland against LHP Bailey Falter of Reading.
