Road fully closed from 9 AM to 3 PM to facilitate paving of the roadway
PORTLAND, Maine -- State Street Extension will be closed on Monday, May 14th and Tuesday, May 15th from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM to facilitate the paving of State Street Extension and the intersection at Park Avenue and State Street as part of the State Street Infrastructure Project.The City’s contractor, Sargent Corporation, will be paving State Street Ext on Monday, May 14, 2018. The paving will occur between Forest Avenue and Park Avenue. The Park Avenue and State Street intersection will be paved on Tuesday, May, 15, 2018.
The contractor will begin work at 7:00 AM by reducing State Street Extension into one lane. After the morning commute hours, the roadway will be completely shut down from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM to allow the paving crews to complete the work. At 3:00 PM, the contractor will be required to re-open at least one lane of traffic for the evening commute.
Park Avenue will remain open with one lane of traffic in each direction during the paving activities on Monday and Tuesday.
Motorists are directed to use Forest Avenue as a detour route while the roadway is shut down.
As long as the weather remains nice with little rain, the State Street work should be complete in about a week.
