Rockland, Maine - Rockland Public Library will host local triathlete Shannon Thompson, who will present an illustrated talk about her experiences on Thursday, July 14 at 6:00 PM.
Shannon Thompson is a triathlete who has completed two Ironman races in Lake Placid, and she’s on her way to her third in Whistler, British Columbia at the end of July, sponsored by Sidecountry Sports. She discovered the sport (all three sports, actually) just 8 years ago, at the age of 40, when she bought a swimsuit, bicycle, and running shoes, started training, and participated in the local Hope Triathlon. She never dreamed she would take it any further than that, but she has discovered that the sport holds far more than mere physical benefits. She’ll be talking about how participating in & training for triathlons has impacted her life in unexpected ways, and how she believes everyone can find their own Ironman successes.
Shannon is Special Events Coordinator at LifeFlight Foundation and a student in nursing school. She lives in Camden with her bicycles.
Rockland Public Library is located at 80 Union St. in Rockland. This event, sponsored by the Friends of the Rockland Library and the Rockland Public Library, is free and open to the public. FMI: 594-0310.
