Harrisburg, Pa. - One day after the Senators scored nine runs in the first inning, the Portland Sea Dogs (47-80) scored eight runs with two-outs in the fourth, and grabbed the season-series finale from Harrisburg (61-66), 9-0 Sunday afternoon at Metro Bank Park. The Sea Dogs finished 3-3 on their 6-game roadtrip in Pennsylvania.
Aaron Wilkerson (2-1) earned a win in both starts on the trip, tossing seven innings for the second consecutive start on two hits, two walks and seven strikeouts.
In the fourth, the Sea Dogs put together their biggest inning since June 19, 2012 when they scored nine against Harrisburg at Hadlock Field. Portland scored eight runs with two outs, receiving six consecutive run-scoring hits from Carlos Asuaje (single), Oscar Tejeda (double), Dustin Lawley (double), Aneury Tavarez (single) and Luis Martinez (single). Brian Rauh (L, 1-4) was lifted after Martinez's hit, but Gilberto Mendez walked Tzu-Wei Lin and Sam Travis belted his second double of the inning, a two-run hit to make it 8-0.
Portland added the final run in the eighth inning on a lead-off homer by Lawley.
Williams Jerez worked the final two innings, giving up one hit and fanning three. Portland picked up their 4th shutout of the season.
The Portland Sea Dogs open up a three-game series with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays affiliate) on Monday night at Haddock Field. First pitch is 7:00 PM. RHP Justin Haley (5-13, 5.27) makes his team-leading 25th start of the season for Portland. RHP Connor Greene (1-0, 4.23) gets the start for New Hampshire.
