Volleyball: Husson picked to finish third in NAC Preseason Poll

WHITINGHAM, Vermont - Husson has been picked to finish third in the 2015 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Volleyball Preseason Coaches Poll, the league office announced Friday.

The Eagles garnered 34 points in the poll and are coming off an appearance in the NAC Tournament semifinals last season.

Husson third-year head coach Jodie Fairbank welcomes back Sarah Wilson and Lindsay Chapman in 2015. Wilson was named to the All-NAC second team last season and led the team with 384 digs, good for second in the conference. Chapman, a 2013 second team selection, returns after playing in only four matches in 2014 before suffering a season-ending injury.

Colby-Sawyer (N.H.) was unanimously selected to win its fifth-consecutive NAC volleyball crown. The Chargers received a total of 49 points to top the league, while Maine Maritime was slated second with 41 points and Husson placed third. Rounding out the poll was Castleton (Vt.) in fourth (29 points), Lyndon State (Vt.) in fifth (22 points), Johnson State (Vt.) in sixth (11 points) and Green Mountain (Vt.) in seventh (10 points).

The Eagles open their season Sept. 1 inside Newman Gymnasium against USCAA Division II member Unity (Maine) at 6:30 p.m. ET. Husson will spend the first week of its season at home, with six matches coming in an eight-day span.
