WSOC: Husson tied for third in NAC Preseason Poll‏

WHITINGHAM, Vermont - Husson and New England (N.H.) are tied for the third in the 2015 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll, the league office announced Thursday morning. Both the Eagles and Pilgrims received 73 points.

The Eagles are coming off a 12-8 overall record last season, including a 7-2 mark in NAC play and berth in the NAC Tournament semifinals.

Amanda Cummings enters her first season as the Husson head coach and her second year on staff in
2015. The Eagles return 2014 first team All-NAC selection Leah Hibbadand second team All-NAC members Taylor Fortin and Erin Boulier. Hibbard led the conference in 2014 with 14 goals and five game-winners while also claiming four NAC Rookie of the Week honors. Boulier is the foundation of the team's defense according to Cummings, who also expects solid contributions from Sydney CostaMollie Roy, and Maddie Page, all players that started every game for the team a season ago. Katie Cyr is also expected to play an important role on the squad's defense.

The Eagles travel to Suffolk (Mass.) on Sept. 1 for their season opener.

Castleton (Vt.) has been tabbed as the favorite to win the league with 96 points and six first place votes. Colby-Sawyer (N.H.), the 2014 conference tournament champion, was selected second with 93 points and the remaining three first place votes. Maine-Farmington placed fifth with 61 points. Rounding out the poll was Maine Maritime in sixth with 43 points, Johnson State (Vt.) in seventh with 40 points, Thomas (Maine) in eighth with 33 points, Lyndon State (Vt.) in ninth, and Green Mountain (Vt.) in 10th (15 points).

The Eagles open the 2015 campaign with the 11th annual Husson Classic Sept. 5-6.
