Football: Price puts Eagles through final scrimmage Thursday‏

Bangor, Maine -  Coach Gabby Price put Husson through its final preseason scrimmage Thursday afternoon at Winkin Sports Complex.

Price put his team through a normal gameday experience, starting with the pregame routine - a team stretch followed by position drills and special teams work.

The scrimmage consisted of nine drives, with the first two series starting at the home team's 35-yard line and the final seven beginning at the 40. The first team offense and defense were only on the field for the first series, giving plenty of chances for the younger players to get reps.

The Eagles offense scored touchdowns on four of the nine series, including the first three, starting when Logan Stewart capped a 10-play drive with a two yard run into the endzone on second and goal. The highlight of the possession came on third and 12 when Joe Seccareccia hit Greg Moore for a 38-yard completion. After a 14-yard run by John Smith down to the one, Stewart hit paydirt two plays later.

The first big play of the second series came on third and 12 when Steven Day picked up the needed
yardage on a run up the middle to move the chains. Cory Brandon connected with Tyler Bassett on a 31-yard pass play several plays later before Brandon called his own number on a 13-yard keeper. Two plays later, Brandon found A.J. McLaughlin on a six-yard touchdown pass, capping a nine-play drive.

The third possession ended on the fourth play when Matt Martin hit Tom Eppich in stride for a 47-yard touchdown pass.

The defense was not to be outdone, as Quan Soyini intercepted a pass on fourth and 12 to end the fifth drive.

The seventh drive included three sacks by the defense, two of them coming from Dominic Boulrisse. Boulrisse's second sack was followed by a Sam Thomas sack on fourth and 13, halting the Eagles offense.

The offense was able to find the endzone on the last play from scrimmage Thursday when Steven Davis caught a 49-yard touchdown pass.

After two practice sessions Friday, the Eagles close preseason camp Saturday morning with a practice in full pads, followed an hour later by the team's annual picture day, all in preparation for the season opener Saturday, Sept. 5, against Alfred (N.Y.). Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. ET.
