St Joseph Hospital initiated a Code Triage almost immediately following notification of the possibility of an external disaster situation. Code Triage was initiated in preparation for the possible influx of patients to the St. Joseph Emergency Department. Coordinated efforts began immediately with Eastern Maine Medical Center to ensure communication of available community health care resources.
St. Joseph Hospital received a total of 6 patients as a result of this incident—these patients are currently being assessed and treated within the Emergency Department. At this time, we anticipate one patient to be admitted to the hospital with additional potential admissions not yet determined. There were no disruptions in patient care in any St. Joseph Hospital service areas.
St. Joseph Hospital, in a coordinated effort with other emergency response agencies, thoroughly prepares for these types of emergency situations, as evidenced today.
