Portland Public Library Riverton Branch Library presents: Get a Clue! Forensic Science Program Thursday, February 19 from 3:00-5:00pm

For Elementary and Middle School aged children
Portland, Maine - Do you know a kid who would like to know more about forensic science? Who would like to learn fingerprinting techniques and track down clues to solve a crime?

The Riverton Branch Library, in conjunction with the Maine State Library’s Cornerstones of Science initiative, is hosting a Get a Clue program during school vacation week. It’s a great opportunity for elementary and middle school-aged children to learn something cool & have some fun!

Portland Police Officer Kristan Steele will visit the Library with a Forensic Technician on Thursday, February 19, from 3-5pm. The officers will teach investigative techniques like fingerprinting and the basics of forensic science. Then we’ll track down clues to solve a mysterious library crime.

The Get a Clue program will allow children to explore how forensic science is used in criminal investigations, learn how to apply the principles of forensic science to a hypothetical crime, and use the scientific process to solve this crime.

No need to sign up, everyone is welcome! The Riverton Branch Library is located at 1600 Forest Avenue in Portland.
