Pirates Welcome Wolf Pack for first time since October

Pirates (19-24-2-7, 47 points) vs. Wolf Pack (20-26-0-6, 46 points), 7:00 PM EST
Lewiston, Maine - The Portland Pirates and Hartford Wolf Pack square off for the 4th time this season and the first time at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston since October tonight. Puck drop is 7 PM for the first of 3 meetings, including two at homes, this week. Hartford leads the season series 2-1.

The Pirates last played on Sunday, dropping a 6-5 decision to the St. John’s IceCaps. Tobias Rieder scored twice for the Pirates, with Brandon McMillan, Brandon Yip, and Chris Brown also scoring for Portland. The Pirates led 3-1 prior to the third period, where the IceCaps scored 5 times for the win. Both Mark Visentin and Louis Domingue saw playing time in the loss, with Brown and Rieder scoring with under a minute in regulation and the goaltender pulled.

The Wolf Pack defeated the Springfield Falcons 4-3 on Saturday in their last game. Hartford scored three times in a 3:15 span of the third period to take the lead, with 4 different players tallying goals overall. David LeNeveu got the win for the Wolf Pack, stopping 28 shots.

Hartford defeated the Pirates in their last meeting, a 4-1 game at the XL Center in Hartford on November 27th. Lucas Lessio had the lone Pirates goal and both teams had penalty shots assessed in the game, but failed to score. Mark Visentin made 24 saves in the loss. Andy Miele leads the Pirates in scoring against Hartford this season, tallying 3 goals in 3 games, with Daine Todd adding 3 assists in 2 games played. Mark Visentin has started every game against the Wolf Pack so far.

KeyBank Key to the Game

Close the Lane: Pirates defensemen need to help out their goalies by blocking the shooting lanes and preventing the Wolf Pack from getting high quality shots on net. By taking away the shooting lanes, Portland will be able to support the net minder and sustain pressure in the other end.

Tonight is Androscoggin Bank Mobile Banking night – make sure to stop by their table in the Colisee lobby and check out their display!  Goodwill will also be at the game handing out coupons in the Colisee lobby!
