Kids Choice Awards 2014 Nominees Announced

Hollywood Superstar Mark Wahlberg to Host Live from Los Angeles
on March 29 at 8 p.m. ET/PT

LOS ANGELES, California – When it comes to the year’s best in entertainment, there’s no need to ask an academy; just ask the kids, and they’ll let you know. Monday, kids made their voices heard as the nominees for the 27th Annual Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards were announced. Hollywood superstar Mark Wahlberg will host this year’s event, live on Saturday, March 29, at 8 p.m. (ET/PT) from USC’s Galen Center.

Among this year’s group of nominees vying for the coveted orange blimp are Jennifer Lawrence, Sandra Bullock, Pharrell Williams, Neil Patrick Harris, Hugh Jackman, Dwayne Johnson, Mila Kunis, Steve Carell, Katy Perry, Maroon 5, One Direction, Miley Cyrus, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Justin Timberlake, Pitbull, Bruno Mars, Johnny Depp, Robert Downey Jr., Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Jennette McCurdy, Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez and many more.

Beginning Monday, Feb 24, kids will be able to cast their votes in 22 categories, including the newly introduced Favorite Funny Star, Favorite Animated Animal Sidekick, and Most Enthusiastic Athlete across all of Nickelodeon's digital outlets: Nick.com desktops and mobile devices, as well as the Nick app on iOS, Kindle, and Android. Users will be able to vote on Nickelodeon’s Twitter feed using custom KCA hashtags. Nick.com/kca14 is the official destination for anything and everything Kids Choice Awards. Fans can join in on the slime-fest by watching hilarious short form videos, taking fun quizzes, browsing through photo galleries, engaging with weekly polls, and getting the latest KCA news on this year’s show and nominees. Kids have a hunger for The Hunger Games franchise, which received four nominations for Favorite Movie, Favorite Book, and Jennifer Lawrence for Favorite Movie Actress and Favorite Female Buttkicker. Iron Man 3 is right behind with three nods for Favorite Movie and Robert Downey Jr. for Favorite Movie Actor and Favorite Male Buttkicker. The Smurfs 2 also nabbed three nominations for Favorite Movie, Favorite Movie Actor (Neil Patrick Harris) and Favorite Movie Actress (Jayma Mays).

In television, Sam & Cat stars Jennette McCurdy and Ariana Grande, Bridgit Medler (Good Luck Charlie) Debby Ryan (Jessie) will compete for Favorite TV Actress, with their respective shows Sam & Cat, Good Luck Charlie, Jessie, along with The Big Bang Theory rounding out the Favorite TV Show nominees. First-time nominees Benjamin Flores Jr. (The Haunted Hathaways) and Jack Griffo (The Thundermans) will face off against last year’s KCA winner for Favorite TV Actor, Ross Lynch (Austin & Ally), and 2012 winner, Jake Short (A.N.T. Farm) for the coveted blimp.

Stacking up three nominations this year, Katy Perry will take on Lady Gaga, Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift
for Favorite Female singer, while musical sensation One Direction will face-off against Maroon 5, One Republic and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis for Favorite Music Group. Katy Perry and One Direction will also return as nominees in the same categories in which they took home blimps last year. Former Kids’ Choice Awards host, Justin Timberlake, who is no stranger to slime, will battle contenders Bruno Mars, Pitbull and Pharrell Williams for Favorite Male Singer.

The 2014 Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards will be seen in more than 375 million households around the world and in more than 25 languages. Within hours of airing live in the United States and Canada, the show will roll out internationally, providing kids around the world the opportunity to tune into their local Nickelodeon channel to enjoy the show faster than ever. In many international markets, the 2014 KCAs will feature country-specific award categories and nominees, such as Sveriges Favoritstjärna (Favorite Swedish Star) and Migliore Cantante Italiano (Favorite Italian Singer). Voting for the 2014 KCAs will span six continents across 17 localized voting sites, giving kids practically everywhere the chance to decide who takes home a coveted blimp. The 2013 KCAs was the highest-rated ever among kids in many international markets, including the UK, Germany and Singapore. Ratings for the 2013 KCAs were up double-digits YOY internationally, and the show was rated #1 in its timeslot among kids’ channels in key international markets, including the UK, Australia, Netherlands, Spain, Singapore, and more.
