Brewer, Maine - EMHS president and CEO, M. Michelle Hood is pleased to announce that Kyle Johnson will join EMHS as vice president and chief information officer. Johnson is the current vice president, chief analytics and integration officer of Trinity Health/CHE, based in Livonia, Michigan.
Ms. Hood reports that Johnson’s expertise in clinical informatics will serve EMHS well in its journey to become a national model of excellence in healthcare. "Kyle is a forward-thinking leader whose experience and values will serve EMHS well as we continue to develop new, innovative models that best position our organization to better serve our communities. She will build upon EMHS’ success in transitioning from a volume-based to value-based reimbursement model by developing supporting technologies and integrated systems to achieve the Triple Aim: better care for patients, better health for populations, and lower per capita costs.”
As vice president and chief information officer, Johnson’s role will be focused on identifying and managing the people, technology, and data systems required to bring EMHS to the forefront as a highly integrated and innovative leader in clinical informatics. Hood added, “It takes a strong team to ensure we can meet the challenges ahead in a rapidly changing healthcare environment. Kyle is a demonstrated team player who enjoys working closely with physicians and clinical staff and engaging them to lead clinical integration.”
Kyle has more than 30 years of experience in healthcare, 16 of which has been with Trinity Health/CHE, the second largest Catholic healthcare delivery system in the nation, which serves communities in more than 20 states. During her time with Trinity, she has held numerous positions, including vice president of Clinical Applications, vice president of Application Services, as well as interim chief medical information officer (CMIO). In her interim CMIO leadership role, she led an effort to bring the CMIOs for approximately 50 hospitals together to successfully implement the integration of the electronic health record across the system. She is also credited with co-developing the informatics strategy and developed the analytics strategy for Trinity.
Johnson says, “I believe EMHS is well positioned for the challenges ahead with health reform and navigating uncharted territory with population health management. The organization has laid much of the important ground work in its investment in electronic health records to meet future healthcare needs. In an era of population health, both physicians and patients need to have full access to the patient’s healthcare information, no matter where patients receive care. Leveraging health information technology to its fullest potential will help to ensure patients receive the highest quality of care at the lowest cost.”
Johnson will assume her duties as EMHS chief information officer on March 31.
