Blue Hill, Maine - The Friends of the Blue Hill Public Library Film Series will start up again for the fall with a showing of To Have and Have Not (1940) on Wednesday, September 11th at 7:30 PM. The Friends of the Library will be showing films each month on the second Thursday.
Set in 1940 in occupied France this romance-war-adventure film is directed by Howard Hawks and stars Humphrey Bogart, Walter Brennan, and Lauren Bacall in her first film. In the story Bogart’s character uses his fishing boat to smuggle a French resistance leader and his wife to Martinique while he romances a sexy nightclub singer (Bacall).
