Regional Micro Loan Finances Rebirth of Maine Gold

ROCKLAND, Maine - The Knox County Regional Micro Loan Program recently closed a deal to provide financing for Maine Gold.

Established in 1996, Maine Gold is a premium pure Maine maple syrup company, which has been closed for the last six months. Rockland-based company, Tyler’s Maple, LLC purchased Maine Gold and has plans to expand the maple syrup company’s well-established brand.

New owners Melissa and Scott Arndt have enthusiastically re-launched Maine Gold into the premium syrup market.

“We are looking forward to providing our customers, old and new, with the best tasting syrup in Maine, premium packaging and exceptional customer service,” says Scott Arndt, who has spent the last few sugaring seasons in Aroostook County making maple syrup with his family.

According to Mayor Will Clayton, “Rockland is proud to play a role in helping to foster the rebirth of a Rockland original, Maine Gold.  Through economic development programs like this, we are committed to helping existing and new businesses grow and expand.”

John Holden, the City Community Development Director added, “This is an example of the interface between community and economic development.  By supporting Rockland residents and their vision and investments, we are sending a message that Rockland is indeed a solid business community.”

Maine Gold distributes its products through a network of retailers across Maine. The company also sells directly to consumers and corporate gift buyers through its website and at a variety of shows, including this weekend’s Maine Boats, Homes and Harbors Show where they will have a booth. Maine Gold packages its syrup in unique and elegant glassware, and uses an extensive filtering process to create the clearest, purest and best tasting syrup in Maine.
