Blue Hill, Maine - As part of the ongoing Art Adventures series for adults and teens, noted photographer
Françoise Gervais will show and discuss her fine art black and white landscape work at the Blue Hill Public Library on Thursday, May 23rd at 7:00 PM. She will address the challenges of composition, light, pattern and contrast, and the many rewards of photographing our Maine coast. Françoise invites participants to bring one of their own landscape photographs for critique and discussion.
"A passionate desire to honor the absolute beauty of nature" is what drives Françoise Gervais to create her photographic landscapes. “One is awestruck by the drama and timelessness of her fine art black & white of our Maine Downeast, offering us visuals that help us see with fresh eyes that which is always there.”
Françoise's intense photographic relationship with the natural world began in college, while she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from the University of New Hampshire and a Bachelor of Arts in Industrial and Scientific Photography from California's Brooks Institute of Photographic Art and Science; during this time she built a strong and balanced foundation from which she creates her imagery with light.
Registration is not required and the program is free, thanks to the Friends of the Library. The “Art Adventures” series will continue on the 4th Thursday of most months through September, spotlighting an array of visual and performing arts from gardens as art to western swing and tattoo art.
