Film & Discussion; ILLUSION

ILLUSION to be Screened & Discussed on Dec. 27th

Rockland, Maine - On Thursday December 27 at 6:30 PM in the Community Room of the Rockland Library there will be a Screening & Discussion of ILLUSION.

Celebrated actor Kirk Douglas never expected to still be acting at the age of 88, especially after suffering a debilitating stroke, until he found Michael Goorjian’s script called ILLUSION. The award-winning ILLUSION tells the story of Donald Baines, a successful Hollywood director nearing death whose life was filled with fame and riches but devoid of love. Haunted by the memory of the son he abandoned and never knew, he is given the opportunity to see three views of his son s journey, each representing a different period in his life. Donald bears witness to the impact that his absence had in son s life and in his inability to find love. Ultimately he is
offered the opportunity to change his son s life in this haunting yet beautiful tale of love and redemption.

Writer and Director Michael Goorjian, who also plays Douglas’ son in the film, literally bet the farm to make ILLUSION. "I was, as they say in poker, all in. I spent all of my money, that of my friends and family, and maxed out every credit card I could get my hands on to make this film."  Goorjian’s compelling script, combined with Douglas’ star power and entrancing performance, make Illusion a movie that appeals to people from all walks of life.

Kirk Douglas said that working on ILLUSION gave him a real-life experience of redemption. Douglas has appeared in 87 films and announced that ILLUSION would be his last film.
