Blue Hill Library Film: The Seventh Seal

Blue Hill, Maine - The Friends of the Blue Hill Public Library Film Series continues on Thursday January 10th at 7:00 PM with The Seventh Seal (Det sjunde inseglet), a 1957 Swedish film considered to be a classic of world cinema. Written and directed by Ingmar Berman, it is et during the “Black Death,” a devastating pandemic in Europe around 1350.

The story is about the journey of a medieval knight and a game of chess that he plays with the personification of Death, who has come to take his life. Bergman based the film on his own play Wood Painting.

All films are shown free of charge on the Library’s “pretty big” screen in the Howard Room.  For more information, call the Library (374-5515) or Michael Donahue, 374-5248 or Donahue.mg@gmail.com.
