WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 7 AM EST SUNDAY...
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GRAY HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW... WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 7 AM EST SUNDAY. THE
WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.
* LOCATIONS... THE MID COAST OF MAINE.
* HAZARD TYPES... HEAVY SNOW... LIKELY WINDBLOWN TONIGHT.
* ACCUMULATIONS... 6 TO 12 INCHES. LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE.
* TIMING... SNOW WILL DEVELOP LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND POTENTIALLY BECOME HEAVY AT TIMES THIS EVENING AND OVERNIGHT. THE SNOW SHOULD TAPER OFF AROUND SUNRISE SUNDAY.
* IMPACTS... SLIPPERY ROAD CONDITIONS... ALONG WITH VISIBILITY RESTRICTIONS IN BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW.
* WINDS... NORTH 10 TO 20 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 30 MPH.
* TEMPERATURES... IN THE MID 20S.
* VISIBILITIES... A HALF MILE OR LESS AT TIMES THIS EVENING AND OVERNIGHT.

A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW MEANS SEVERE WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW ARE FORECAST THAT WILL MAKE TRAVEL DANGEROUS. ONLY TRAVEL IN AN EMERGENCY. IF YOU MUST TRAVEL... KEEP AN EXTRA FLASHLIGHT... FOOD... AND WATER IN YOUR VEHICLE IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY.

... ANOTHER SNOW EVENT ON TAP FOR THIS AFTERNOON AND ESPECIALLY TONIGHT...
.LOW PRESSURE OFF THE MID ATLANTIC COAST WILL INTENSIFY RAPIDLY AS IT MOVES TO THE NORTHEAST TODAY AND TONIGHT... STAYING JUST OUT TO SEA. HOWEVER... THE EXPECTED TRACK OF THIS LOW HAS MOVED A BIT WESTWARD THIS MORNING. THIS WESTWARD BUMP SHOULD ALLOW FOR WINTER STORM CONDITIONS ALONG THE COAST TONIGHT... AND AN INCREASE IN SNOWFALL ACROSS THE INTERIOR AS WELL. THEREFORE... A WINTER STORM WARNING IS NOW IN EFFECT FOR THE COAST... WITH THE MOST SNOW EXPECTED ALONG THE MID COAST OF MAINE. THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES HAVE BEEN EXPANDED WESTWARD AND NORTHWARD AS WELL. DEPENDING ON ANY FURTHER TRENDS THIS AFTERNOON... IT IS POSSIBLE WARNINGS MAY HAVE TO BE EXPANDED A LITTLE FURTHER INLAND.
