Lewiston Parking Ban December 27th-28th
LEWISTON DECLARES PARKING BAN
FROM 12:01 A.M. THURSDAY MORNING, DECEMBER 27TH
UNTIL 6:00 A.M. FRIDAY MORNING, DECEMBER 28TH
Lewiston, Maine - The City of Lewiston has issued its first parking ban under new procedures adopted earlier this year that eliminated the prior overnight winter parking prohibition. Parking on Lewiston City streets is prohibited under this ban from 12:01 a.m. Thursday morning until 6:00 a.m. Friday morning. Vehicles parked on city streets after one (1) minute past midnight tonight will be subject to ticketing and towing. The public is urged to take notice of this parking ban and make arrangements for their vehicles to be off the streets tonight by midnight.
Alternate parking in the downtown area is available at the City’s five parking garages. Vehicles entering these facilities after 6 p.m. and exiting before 6 a.m. the following day can park at no charge. During week days, parking costs $1 per hour up to a maximum of $6 per day, significantly less than the cost of fines and towing charges.
According to City Administrator, Ed Barrett, “We urge all residents to comply with the parking ban both to assist our Public Works crews in dealing with a predicted major snowstorm and to avoid the cost and inconvenience of fines and towing charges.”
Vehicles parked on the street during the ban can be fined $30 plus charged for towing and storage fees.
